The Process

High-Volume Production with Progressive Die Stamping

Sheet metal stamping uses a custom-built die, mounted in a mechanical or hydraulic press, to blank, pierce, bend, and form a part in one or more coordinated stages. In a progressive die, coil stock advances through multiple stations in a single press stroke, so a finished part can be blanked, pierced, formed, and separated in one continuous cycle.

This makes stamping the most efficient process for high-volume production once tooling is built. At BSG, we evaluate your annual volume, part geometry, and material to determine whether stamping or CNC punching delivers the better balance of tooling cost and per-part price for your project.
